Bob Joyce, Interim <br />Planning Director, presented the following: <br />a. Rezoning request submitted by Roger Greer for Carolina <br />Forest Products, Inc. to rezone from Residential Restricted District <br />to Highway Commercial Conditional Use District approximately 8.3 <br />acres of land on the eastern side of Highway 87 South at 3535 Highway <br />87 South and beginning at a point approximately 675 feet from the <br />center line of Highway 87 South, for the location of an outdoor <br />storage yard for forest products. <br />Roger Greer, President of Carolina Forest Products, Inc. and <br />Parks Brewer, Owner of Carolina Forest Products, Inc. spoke in favor <br />of the request. <br />Kent Buikema of 723 Chelsea Drive, Carolina Trace spoke in <br />opposition to the request by representing eight lot owners in <br />Carolina Trace. <br />b. Rezoning request submitted by Tom Vanderiet for Factory <br />Showcase Homes to rezone from Residential Agricultural District to <br />Highway Commercial Conditional Use District 3.28 acres of land on the <br />eastern side of Jefferson Davis Highway at the northeastern corner of <br />the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and Rocky Fork Church <br />Road for the location of manufactured home and modular home sales. <br />Tom Vanderiet, representing Factory Showcase Homes, and Scott <br />Swindell of 647 Sunset Drive spoke in favor of the request. <br />Gary Cole of 3225 Jefferson Davis Highway spoke about some <br />concerns he had with the rezoning request since his property is 300 <br />feet from the area in question. <br />C.
