0 0 <br />BOOK 15 Pn Me, <br />Tax Administrator Nathan Crissman gave the Board an update on <br />the revaluation process in the Tax Department, at which time the <br />Board of Commissioners were sworn in as the Board of Equalization and <br />Review. Copies of their Oath of Office are attached to these minutes <br />and by this reference made a part hereof. <br />The Board considered a grant proposal from the North Carolina <br />Office of Waste Reduction for $15,000.00 to help expand recycling <br />activities in the County. Recycling Coordinator John Payne appeared <br />before the Board and answered questions. Commissioner Matthews moved <br />to approve the grant proposal from the North Carolina Office of Waste <br />Reduction. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from the Chairman of Mecklenburg <br />County Board of County Commissioners to support Senate Bill 51. <br />After some discussion Commissioner Matthews moved to table the matter <br />until this matter could be discussed with the State Association. <br />Upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Resolution for relief from federal and <br />state fiscal mandates. After some discussion Commissioner Matthews <br />moved to table the matter until it could be discussed further with <br />the State Association. Upon a vote the results were as follows: <br />Ate: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Attorney K.R. Hoyle gave the Board an update on a <br />previous request from David Simpson for an encroachment easement <br />along Center Church Road for the purpose of installing a 3" sewer <br />line. Commissioner Reives requested that the State Engineer with the <br />Department of Transportation furnish the Board with a written report <br />explaining the situation in detail. <br />Commissioner Garner had to leave the meeting at this time. <br />21 <br />2 <br />
