The Lee County Board of County Commissioners on May 3, 1993 <br />unanimously approved the following amendments to The Zoning <br />Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina following a public hearing <br />to consider the amendments held on May 3, 1993: <br />1. The following definitions are added to Article IV, <br />Interpretation of Words and Terms, Section 2, Definitions, <br />in The Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina: <br />Solid Waste Convenience Center - A place or facility operated <br />by a municipality for the collection of bagged household waste <br />and certain specified recyclable items. The waste and <br />recyclable goods are transported by smaller collection <br />vehicles (e.g., compactor trucks) to solid waste transfer <br />stations and/or to designated disposal areas, usually <br />landfills. <br />Solid Waste Transfer Station - A place or facility where <br />waste materials are taken from smaller collection vehicles <br />(e.g., compactor trucks) and placed in larger transportation <br />vehicles (e.g., over-the-road tractors utilizing trailers <br />which are top loaded) for movement to designated disposal <br />areas, usually landfills. The stations are usually served by <br />a fleet of over-the-road semi tractors and transfer trailers, <br />as well as specialized "on-site" loading and trailer staging <br />equipment. <br />2. The following amendments are added to Article VII, District <br />Regulations, Section 3, Table of Permitted Uses, in The Zoning <br />Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina: <br />USE RA RR RM OI CS HC LI HI <br />Solid Waste <br />Convenience Center <br />(See Note #5) <br />Solid Waste Transfer <br />Station (See Note #6) <br />X X <br />X X <br />3. The following amendments are added as the fifth and sixth <br />notes to the "Notes to the Table of Permitted Uses" in Article <br />VII, District Regulations, Section 3, Table of Permitted Uses, <br />in The Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North Carolina: <br />5) Solid waste convenience centers may accept only bagged <br />residential waste and specified recyclable goods. Solid waste <br />convenience centers are permitted in the zones where indicated <br />only if the waste does not include waste generated by <br />construction and demolition activities, yard waste, liquid <br />waste, or hazardous waste. Solid waste convenience centers <br />are also only permitted in the zones where indicated if the <br />
