MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED JOINT MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />AND <br />THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />May 13, 1993 <br />The special called joint meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />and the Board of Equalization and Review for the County of Lee, State <br />of North Carolina, convened at 8:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 13, 1993, <br />in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 <br />Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were <br />Commissioners, John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; F. Hubert Garner; Bertha L. <br />Matthews; Nathan E. Paschal; Robert T. Reives; William C. Stafford, <br />Jr.; and Gordon A. Wicker <br />Chairman Stafford presided and the following business was <br />transacted. <br />Commissioner Stafford delivered the invocation. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed with the Board a <br />recommendation from Tax Administrator Nathan Crissman to delay the <br />revaluation until 1995. Nathan Crissman, Tax Administrator was <br />present and also answered questions of the Board. After much <br />discussion, commissioner Reives moved to accept the recommendation of <br />the Tax Administrator to postpone the revaluation and requested a <br />full written report as to what went wrong in this revaluation. After <br />further discussion, Commissioner Paschal amended the motion to accept <br />the recommendation of the Tax Administrator to postpone the <br />revaluation. Upon a vote of the amended motion, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Paschal <br />Nay: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Reives Stafford, and Wicker <br />vote. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been defeated by a six to one <br />Upon a vote of the original motion, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been approved unanimously. <br />36 <br />1 <br />
