MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED JOINT MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION AND REVIEW FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA May 13, 1993 The special called joint meeting of the Board of Commissioners and the Board of Equalization and Review for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 8:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 13, 1993, in the Commissioners' Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were Commissioners, John R. Dossenbach, Jr.; F. Hubert Garner; Bertha L. Matthews; Nathan E. Paschal; Robert T. Reives; William C. Stafford, Jr.; and Gordon A. Wicker Chairman Stafford presided and the following business was transacted. Commissioner Stafford delivered the invocation. County Manager William Cowan discussed with the Board a recommendation from Tax Administrator Nathan Crissman to delay the revaluation until 1995. Nathan Crissman, Tax Administrator was present and also answered questions of the Board. After much discussion, commissioner Reives moved to accept the recommendation of the Tax Administrator to postpone the revaluation and requested a full written report as to what went wrong in this revaluation. After further discussion, Commissioner Paschal amended the motion to accept the recommendation of the Tax Administrator to postpone the revaluation. Upon a vote of the amended motion, the results were as follows: Aye: Paschal Nay: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Reives Stafford, and Wicker vote. The Chairman ruled the motion had been defeated by a six to one Upon a vote of the original motion, the results were as follows: Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been approved unanimously. 36 1
