0 -0 010 <br />boos 15 pAu ib"2 <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the Board of <br />Commissioners for Lee County, requesting that a special election be <br />called to establish a rural fire protection district in the portion <br />of the Cameron Fire District which lies in Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, the petition has been examined and it has been <br />determined that the petition contains more than thirty-five percent <br />(350) of the resident freeholders living in the area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has a duty to call said <br />election under N. C. General Statute 69-25.1; NOW THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee as follows: <br />1. The question whether the qualified voters in the <br />area described in the petition and designated as <br />the Lee County portion of the Cameron Fire <br />District shall approve or disapprove the levying <br />and collecting a special tax on all taxable <br />property in said district of not exceeding <br />fifteen cents of the $100.00 valuation of <br />property for the purpose of providing fire <br />protection in said district shall be submitted <br />to the qualified voters of said district residing <br />in Lee County, at a special election to be held <br />on July 13, 1993. <br />2. The Lee County Board of Elections is hereby <br />directed to hold and conduct the election in said <br />district and shall advertise and conduct said <br />election in accordance with Article 3A entitled <br />"Rural Fire Protection District" of Chapter 69 <br />of the General Statutes of North Carolina, and <br />with procedures prescribed in Chapter 163 of the <br />General Statutes of North Carolina, governing the <br />conduct of special and general elections. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />4 <br />
