012 <br />B'* 15 Tw ,v 233 <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, an adult unit with 12 beds for inpatient psychiatric <br />services was operated at Good Hope Hospital at Erwin, N.C., from <br />October, 1986, until May 28, 1993, for citizens in the Lee-Harnett <br />MH/DD/SRS catchment area; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed plan to "downsize" state institutions will <br />mean that indigent adult patients from Lee and Harnett counties who <br />require psychiatric inpatient services will have no place to go; and <br />WHEREAS, Good Hope Hospital in Erwin, N.C. has 29 vacant <br />psychiatric beds which could be utilized to treat indigent patients <br />from this catchment area; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County as follows: <br />Section 1. That the members of <br />representing Lee and Harnett counties are r, <br />from the General Assembly of North Carolina <br />of the twenty-nine (29) psychiatric beds in <br />Erwin, N.C. to treat indigent patients from <br />requiring psychiatric inpatient services. <br />the General Assembly <br />aquested to secure funding <br />to permit the reopening <br />Good Hope Hospital in <br />Lee and Harnett counties <br />Section 2. That the Honorable Robin Britt, Secretary of <br />Human Resources, is requested to assist in securing funding to reopen <br />the twenty-nine (29) vacant psychiatric beds at Good Hope Hospital in <br />Erwin, N.C. for use by indigent patients from Lee and Harnett <br />counties requiring psychiatric inpatient services. <br />Section 3.
