After <br />some discussion Commissioner Dossenbach moved that $400,000 of the <br />$500,000 budgeted for FY 1993-94 be frozen and the additional <br />$100,000 be used for things needed currently, but $40,000 of the <br />$100,000 be used for air conditioning immediately at Deep River <br />School. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been approved unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives made the following statement in reference to <br />the Operation Services Center project. "I would like to go on record <br />as being opposed to building the Operation Services Center. I feel <br />this is one item that should be delayed." He further stated, "I just <br />don't feel that the County should be looking at building another <br />building at this point and time if it isn't going to be a school <br />facility then I don't feel comfortable getting involved in any more <br />building projects. I think financially we are not in the position <br />that we ought to be in nor are we in the position where we want to be <br />and I would move that we delay the building project for the <br />Operations Center." Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Reives <br />Nay: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, and Stafford <br />The Chairman ruled the motion failed with a five to one vote. <br />The Board considered allocating an additional $5,500 to the <br />Sheriff's Department for radios for FY 1993-94. Commissioner Reives <br />moved to increase the Sheriff's Departments' budget for FY 1993-94 by <br />$5,500 to purchase radios. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been approved unanimously. <br />Finance Director John Crumpton summarized the Budget Ordinance <br />for FY 1993-94. Roger Milliken of the Northview Rural Fire <br />Department was present and voiced concern over the fire departments <br />budget for the coming year. The department and been cut $15,000 and <br />Commissioner Garner mentioned that the Deep River Rural Fire <br />Department had been cut $10,000. Both departments had great concern <br />3 <br />
