Commissioner Matthews nominated Vickie <br />Thompson to serve on this Committee. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Garner discussed with the Board some concerns he <br />had with the Sanford-Lee County Airport Project. After much <br />discussion Commissioner Garner moved that all funds for the new <br />airport be frozen as of this date and no additional obligations be <br />incurred until a number of questions have been answered, which <br />include: a public hearing to be held for rezoning purposes; Airport <br />Authority give to the Board in writing, from the highest aviation <br />authority, that the new airport will be designated reliever status; <br />for the Airport Authority to tell the Board something about the <br />amount of land to be used, type of water and sewer that will be <br />constructed, and expectation that men and women that have airplanes <br />will move them out to the new airport. After further discussion <br />commissioner Reives moved to table the matter until the Board can <br />meet with the Airport Authority and Board of Aldermen to discuss and <br />answer questions. Upon a vote of the tabled motion, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: Garner <br />The Chairman ruled the motion carried six to one on the tabled <br />motion. <br />After further discussion Commissioner Matthews moved to plan a joint <br />session with the Airport Authority, Board of Aldermen and the Board <br />of Commissioners to discuss and answer questions for the second <br />meeting in September, which will be on September 20, 1993.
