04 <br />aoo~ 15 Prey 354 <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered metal screening security devices for the <br />Courthouse. Commissioner Dossenbach updated the Board on a recent <br />meeting which consisted of himself, Commissioner Paschal, County <br />Manager William Cowan, Clerk of Court Lucille York, Sheriff Billy <br />Bryant, and Chief District Court Judge William Christian concerning <br />security devices. Commissioner Reives asked that the record show <br />there was another committee appointed by the Mayor (city lead <br />committee) some time ago, but there has never been a meeting of any <br />kind held. Commissioner Dossenbach said the recommendation from his <br />meeting was to obtain two metal detectors, one to be presently placed <br />outside each courtroom in the old Courthouse, with the understanding <br />as soon as the new Courthouse is completed these two metal detectors <br />will be moved to the proper places at the new Courthouse for use. <br />County Manager William County discussed prices of various units with <br />the Board. After much discussion it was decided to bring this matter <br />up again at the next meeting after County Manager William Cowan had a <br />chance to look over material, get a better idea of prices involved, <br />check on maintenance of the units in question, have a floor plan of <br />the new Courthouse available showing doors where units are to be <br />placed and cost sheets. <br />The Board considered a request from the Downtown Redevelopment <br />Corporation for the acceptance of the demolition debris of the old <br />Southern National Bank building on Wicker Street at the county <br />landfill per gratis of the county. Once the building is demolished, <br />the lot will be used for free public parking. After some discussion <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the acceptance of the <br />demolition debris at the county landfill. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Stafford asked the Board to give him authorization to <br />appoint two Commissioners to work with Interim Planning Director Bob <br />Joyce on the 1990 census for voter redistricting. Commissioner <br />Dossenbach moved to approve the Chairman authorization to appoint two <br />Commissioners to work on the 1990 census for voter redistricting. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />4 <br />
