Mr. Williams once again refused the offer. After some <br />discussion Commissioner Reives moved to delete this from the CDBG <br />project and get a chronological report on what has been done with <br />this project so far, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and <br />by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax <br />Administrator, <br />gave the Board a <br />report <br />on steps he had taken to notify the publ <br />ic about the <br />elderly/ <br />handicapped tax exemption law. <br />Mr. Crissman <br />discussed with t <br />he Board <br />a letter he had received from <br />Ms. Ruby Goines <br />in reference <br />to the <br />elderly/handicapped exemption <br />explaining why <br />she had not fi <br />led for <br />this exemption. Commissioner <br />Reives moved <br />to accept Ms. <br />Goines <br />letter as her reason for not filing a timely <br />application and <br />get an <br />adjustment on her 1993 taxes. <br />Upon a vote, <br />the results <br />were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered metal screening security devices for the <br />courthouse. Commissioner Dossenbach went over additional information <br />the Board had requested the County Manager get from the last meeting. <br />Architect Ed Fitchett was present and presented floor plans of the <br />new courthouse showing where metal detectors would be located. After <br />some discussion commissioner Paschal moved to purchase two metal <br />screening security devices from EG&G Astrophysics Research <br />Corporation for a cost of $7,325.00, to be located in the old <br />Courthouse, and moved to the new Courthouse when completed.
