Poop 15 wE 433 <br />The Chairman invited the Planning Board Members to join the <br />commissioners for the joint public hearings. Mr. Bob Joyce, Interim <br />Planning Director, and Ms. Leisa Powell, Planner, presented the <br />following: <br />A. Petition by Michael A. Thomas to rezone from <br />Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial Conditional <br />Use District 1.0 acre of land on the eastern side of Sanders Road for <br />the location of an automobile repair garage with no outdoor storage <br />or equipment. <br />Mr. Michael Thomas of 7001 Sanders Road spoke in favor of the <br />rezoning request. He told the Board he would use the area for <br />repairing automobiles and would not have an outdoor storage area of <br />equipment. <br />No one spoke in opposition to the request. <br />B. Petition by Guy Maddox to rezone from Residential <br />Agricultural District to Residential Restricted Conditional Use <br />District 51.86 acres of land at the northwestern and southwestern <br />corners of the intersection of Cox Maddox Road and Cox Mill Road for <br />the location of a twelve lot major subdivision allowing only site <br />built homes with 1,500 square feet of heated space. <br />Mr. Guy Maddox of 1916 Post Office Road spoke in favor of the <br />rezoning request. <br />No one spoke in opposition to the request. <br />C. Petition by Deep River Minerals, Inc. to rezone from <br />Residential Agricultural District to Heavy Industrial Conditional Use <br />District approximately 14 acres of land on the northern side of Deep <br />River Road for the location of a specialty stone processing and <br />sizing operation. <br />Messrs. David Hepple of Columbia, Maryland, representing Deep <br />River Minerals, and A. T. Layne of 5724 Hull Street, Richmond, <br />Virginia, spoke in favor of the rezoning request. <br />No one spoke in opposition to the request. <br />D. The Planning Board was excused at this time and the <br />Commissioners conducted a public hearing to redefine the electoral <br />districts in Lee County. <br />Mr. Fisher McMillian expressed to the Board some concerns he had <br />concerning the redefining of electoral districts. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to close the public hearings.
