BPECP <br />g~oK 15 498 <br />(6) Broken glassware must not be picked up by hand. <br />It must be swept up with a broom and dustpan and <br />placed carefully into a disposal container. <br />(7) Any equipment coming in contact with a <br />potentially infectious material shall be cleaned <br />with the currently used virucidal agent. Rinse <br />with warm water and dry. <br />(8) Contaminated Laundry is that laundry which has <br />been soiled with blood or other potentially <br />infectious materials, or may contain sharps. <br />(9) Universal precautions shall be practiced with <br />all laundry generated. <br />(10) Contaminated laundry must be handled as little <br />as possible with a minimum of agitation. <br />(11) All employees who have contact with contaminated <br />laundry shall wear protective gloves and other <br />appropriate personal protective equipment. <br />(12) When uniforms or civilian clothes are <br />contaminated, the previous requirements will <br />be adhered to and the contaminated uniforms or <br />civilian clothes must be placed in bags or <br />containers that are labeled or color coded. <br />(13) Each department shall determine and implement an <br />appropriate written schedule for cleaning and <br />methods of decontamination specific to their <br />work environment. <br />E. Hepatitis B Vaccination <br />1. Hepatitis B vaccine shall be made available to all <br />County of Lee employees who have potential for <br />occupational exposure. <br />2. This vaccine will be offered at no cost to the <br />employee. <br />3. Hepatitis B Vaccine shall be made available after the <br />employee has received the required training and it must <br />be offered within 10 days of initial assignment, unless <br />previously received and antibody testing revealed <br />employee immune or vaccine contraindicated. <br />4. Any employee refusing said vaccine must sign a <br />Mandatory Declination Form; if they subsequently accept <br />vaccination, it will be made available. <br />F. Post exposure evaluation and follow up <br />1. Potential exposures to body fluids are to be reported <br />immediately to your supervisor. Exposed employee's <br />blood shall be collected as soon as feasible and tested <br />after consent is obtained. Identify and document the <br />source individual. <br />50 <br />8 <br />
