Retention. <br />B <br />OSHA has defined the classification of employee work <br />activity into three categories with regards to HIV <br />and HBV regulations. They are: <br />CATEGORY I - Tasks that involve actual or potential for <br />mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, <br />or tissues, universal precautions apply. <br />CATEGORY II - Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, <br />body fluids or tissues, but employment may require <br />exposure in an emergency. <br />CATEGORY III - Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, <br />body fluids or tissues, and do not entail predictable or <br />unpredictable exposure to blood or blood by products. <br />C. The following departments have been identified as being <br />at risk due to their exposure or potential exposure. <br />Each shall develop an exposure determination (job <br />classification and tasks/procedures) and methods of <br />compliance specific to their departments in addition to <br />those provided within this County of Lee Bloodborne <br />Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. <br />Buildings & Grounds Maintenance <br />Emergency Medical Services <br />Fire Marshal <br />Health <br />Mental Health <br />Public Works <br />Recreation <br />Senior Services <br />Social Services Department <br />Sheriff's Department <br />D. Methods of compliance <br />1. Universal precautions shall be used by all employees <br />who are classified in Task Exposure Category I and II. <br />4 <br />
