BPECP qq qqppqq <br />~~bK 1~ i'R?'.= ~ic7•J <br />45 <br />Source Individual - Any individual, living or dead, whose <br />blood, or other potentially infectious materials may be a <br />source of occupational exposure to the employee. <br />Sterilize - Use of a physical or chemical procedure to <br />destroy all microbial life including highly resistant <br />bacterial endospores. <br />Universal Precautions - An approach to infection control. <br />According to the concept of Universal Precautions, all <br />human blood and certain human body fluids are treated as if <br />known to be infectious for HIV, HBV and other bloodborne <br />pathogens. <br />Work Practice Controls - Controls that reduce the likelihood <br />of exposure by altering the manner in which a task is <br />performed (e.g. prohibiting recapping of needles by a <br />two-handed technique). <br />IV. EXPOSURE CONTROL PLAN <br />A. Each county department having employees with occupational <br />exposure is required to establish a written exposure <br />control plan designed to eliminate or minimize employee <br />exposure. The plan shall contain at least the following <br />elements: <br />1. The exposure determination of each job classification. <br />a. List of job classifications in which all employees <br />have exposure. <br />b. List job classifications in which some employees <br />have exposure. <br />c. List of tasks and procedures or groups of closely <br />related tasks and procedures in which the <br />occupational exposure occurs. <br />2. Methods of compliance. <br />a. Universal precautions. <br />b. Engineering and work practices <br />c. Personal Protective Equipment. <br />d. Housekeeping. <br />3. Hepatitis B vaccination and post exposure evaluation <br />and follow-up. <br />a. Education. <br />b. Procedure for obtaining vaccine. <br />c. Post-exposure evaluation and follow-up procedure. <br />3 <br />
