tft 415 W~ 452 <br />call upon all citizens of this County and City to participate to the <br />limit of their capabilities in the joint visits, seminars, pageants, <br />fairs, and civic and social events associated with a successful <br />Farm-City Week in the City of Sanford and Lee County. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an Ordinance withdrawing, repealing and <br />rescinding the offer of a non-exclusive franchise to operate and <br />maintain a cable television system in Lee County. County Attorney K. <br />R. Hoyle answered questions of the Board. Commissioner Dossenbach <br />moved to approve the following Ordinance: <br />AN ORDINANCE WITHDRAWING, REPEALING AND RESCINDING <br />THE OFFER OF A NON-EXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE TO OPERATE <br />AND MAINTAIN A CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM IN LEE COUNTY, <br />EXCLUSIVE OF INCORPORATED AREAS, MADE TO <br />CAROLINA CABLE PARTNERS ON MAY 17, 1993 <br />WHEREAS, Carolina Cable Partners made application for a <br />franchise to operate and maintain a cable television system in Lee <br />county, exclusive of incorporated areas; and <br />WHEREAS, on May 17, 1993, the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County adopted an ordinance which if accepted by Carolina Cable <br />Partners would have granted them such a franchise; and <br />WHEREAS, the documents were mailed to Carolina Cable Partners on <br />May 18, 1993, and since then the applicant has not accepted or <br />returned a copy of the ordinance as requested and other than letters <br />and phone calls indicating they would advise the County of their <br />intentions within the next two or three weeks, have not taken any <br />action to accept such franchise or to exercise any rights thereunder; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the county has elected to become certified as a <br />franchising authority and the procrastination by Carolina Cable <br />Partners has delayed and complicated the process; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, THAT: <br />1.
