Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board heard a report from Administrative Services Director <br />Bob Joyce concerning the Cumnock water system. The Sanford Public <br />Works Department had given the Building, Grounds and Utilities <br />Committee a report on a recent study conducted on the Cumnock water <br />system. The City of Sanford stated that if the County accepted the <br />Cumnock system, an initial capital investment of approximately <br />$32,400 to cover retaps, abandonments/tie-ins and replacing 19 meter <br />boxes would be required. The length of line requiring maintenance <br />would be reduced from 3.4 miles to 1.5 miles. After much discussion <br />Commissioner Garner moved for Administrative Services Director Bob <br />Joyce to move forward with the next step of the procedure for taking <br />over the Cumnock system. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board observed a short recess. Upon returning from the <br />recess, with all members present except commissioner Wicker, the <br />Board considered a Proclamation declaring the week of November 19-25, <br />1993, as Annual Farm-City Week. Larry Long, Chairman for this year's <br />Farm-City Week gave the Board an agenda of activities taking place <br />the week of November 19-25, 1993. Commissioner Matthews moved to <br />approve the following Proclamation: <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, the growth and development of the County and the <br />well-being of all of its citizens are dependent upon cooperation and <br />exchange between the two essential environments of our society: <br />farmers and city people, and <br />WHEREAS, the complexities of their individual problems and the <br />divergence of their activities may lead to a widening gap of <br />misunderstanding, and <br />WHEREAS, any gap of misunderstanding must be eliminated, and <br />each group must understand the other if our American way of life is <br />to endure, and <br />WHEREAS, Farm-City Week provides an unparalleled experience for <br />farm and city people to become better acquainted, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we do hereby proclaim the period of November 19 <br />through November 25, 1993, to be Farm-City Week; and we do further <br />03 <br />3 <br />
