007 <br />~~o= : fly qr_ 553 <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board continued their discussion on host community benefits <br />proposal to the Joint Select Committee on Low-Level Radioactive <br />Waste. After much discussion Commissioner Garner moved to authorize a <br />representative of the Board of Commissioners to attend the January <br />20, 1994, Joint Select Committee meeting in Raleigh on Low-Level <br />Radioactive Waste and present a community benefits package on behalf <br />of Lee County and the City of Sanford. He further stated the school <br />authorities need to make recommendations with respect to any problems <br />created by the fact that seven of the eight highway routes to the <br />proposed site pass through Lee County. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered telephone cable bids for the new <br />Courthouse/Jail/Law Enforcement Center. Bids had been received from <br />the following companies: <br />Nor/Com, Inc. $23,131.02 <br />Raleigh, NC <br />Electronic Equipment $46,787.00 <br />Raleigh, NC <br />TIE/Communications, Inc. $48,257.93 <br />Charlotte, NC <br />After some discussion, Commissioner Dossenbach moved to accept the <br />low bid of $23,131.02 from Nor/Com, Inc., Raleigh, North Carolina. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and <br />threats for Lee County for the State Economic Development Strategic <br />Plan. County Manager William Cowan submitted the information to Mr. <br />Hal Siler and selected members of the Chamber of Commerce for review. <br />After some discussion Commissioner Garner moved to delete one item <br />under the "weakness" section and one item from the "threats" section <br />and accept the list as drafted by the Chamber of Commerce.
