Upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered extension of A Joint Resolution <br />Establishing Common Local Policies for Mutual Aid During Water Supply <br />Emergencies in Region J, North Carolina. County Manager William <br />Cowan explained to the Board that twenty-nine (29) local governments <br />in the Triangle J Region endorsed a Mutual Aid Compact for water <br />emergencies as a result of Triangle i's 1987 World Class Regional <br />Conference. The Compact, by establishing policies for mutual aid to <br />address temporary failures of the water supply treatment and <br />distribution systems, strengthens the reliability of the region's <br />utility infrastructure. The period of the original agreement was <br />from December 1, 1988, to December 1, 1993. If approved, the <br />agreement would be extended for five (5) additional years. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve the Mutual Aid Compact, a copy <br />of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made a <br />part hereof.
