008 <br />BOOK 15 FAtt 566 <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Chairperson invited the Planning Board members to join the <br />commissioners for the joint public hearings. Ms. Leisa Powell, <br />Planner, presented the following: <br />A. Public hearing to consider the "Sanford/Lee County <br />Airport Hazard Ordinance". Planner Leisa Powell told the Board the <br />Sanford/Lee County Regional Airport Authority has requested Lee <br />County and the City of Sanford consider the adoption of the <br />"Sanford/Lee County Airport Hazard Ordinance" which regulates the <br />height of structures, as well as the height of objects of natural <br />growth, and regulates other potential aircraft hazards such as dust <br />and debris in the vicinity of the new airport. The Federal Aviation <br />Administration would like these restrictions in place during the land <br />acquisition and construction phases of the airport's development. <br />Hobbs, Upchurch & Associates representative Ken Justice was present <br />and answered questions. <br />Ray and Mary Brookins of 3901 Lower Moncure Road and Laura Young <br />of 7500 Deep River Road expressed concerns they had about the map on <br />display at the Library. <br />B. Public hearing to consider amendment Article VII, <br />District Regulations, of The Zoning Ordinance of Lee County, North <br />Carolina. <br />No one spoke in favor or opposition to the amendment. <br />C. Petition by Archie Brooks to rezone from Highway <br />Commercial District to Residential Mixed Conditional Use District <br />approximately 7.45 acres of land located at 5103 Jefferson Davis <br />Highway. <br />Mr. Archie Brooks of 5109 Jefferson Davis Highway spoke in favor <br />of the rezoning request. <br />Mr. Charles Wilkins of Jefferson Davis Highway spoke in <br />opposition to the request. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to close the public hearings. Upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />8 <br />
