0 0 <br />aooK 15 5~5 <br />The Board considered an Inmate Labor Contract with the Sanford <br />Correctional Center. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle discussed the <br />contract with the Board and explained that the County could employ up <br />to six (6) inmates to work with the Maintenance Department, forty <br />(40) hours per week, at a cost of $1.00 per day. He went over terms <br />agreed upon by the Sanford Correctional Center and Lee County <br />operational Services. After much discussion Commissioner Garner <br />moved to approve the Contract For Inmate Labor with the Sanford <br />Correctional Center. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Matthews, Paschal and Stafford <br />Nay: Reives and Wicker <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a four to <br />two vote. <br />Chairperson Matthews gave the Board an update on a recent <br />meeting she and County Manager William Cowan had with Mayor Hester <br />concerning the Economic Development Proposal. The City Aldermen will <br />be discussing this matter at their Law and Finance Committee meeting <br />on February 24, 1994, and will supply Chairperson Matthews or County <br />Manager William Cowan with information after that meeting. No action <br />was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Stafford asked the Board for any suggestions they <br />might have concerning a North Carolina Futures meeting he will be <br />attending on February 23, 1994. <br />Commissioner Stafford moved to recess for dinner and reconvene <br />at 7:00 P.M. for the scheduled public hearings. Upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously <br />and the meeting recessed in keeping with the motion. <br />The meeting reconvened at 7:00 P.M. in the Commissioners Room of <br />the Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North <br />Carolina, with all members present except Commissioners Dossenbach <br />and Stafford. Commissioner Paschal moved that the Board hold joint <br />public hearings with the Lee County Planning Board on matters of <br />mutual concern as advertised and scheduled for this date and time. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />0 0'7 <br />7 <br />
