'oh
6oox 15 ptt, 508
of an offer to purchase certain property in the Cape Fear Township.
County Attorney K. R. Hoyle explained to the Board that the County
acquired a lot 110' x 210' (approximately one-half acre) in Cape Fear
Township by tax foreclosure on June 8, 1985, on a bid of $660.03.
Mr. Donny Hunter has made an offer of $400.00 for the half-acre lot.
The Tax Department lists its value as a home site at $3,800.00.
After much discussion Commissioner Garner moved to recommend sale of
the property under the upset bid procedure at 10% above the original
purchase price plus advertisement cost, a copy of which is attached
to these minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a
vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Stafford and Wicker
Nay: Dossenbach and Reives
The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to
two vote.
Commissioner Reives asked that his reason for a "no" vote be
recorded as follows, "I voted against it because I felt we should be
starting with what we lost - this County lost $660.03".
The Board considered a Resolution to submit to the Department of
Transportation to construct a turn lane at the intersection of Deep
River Road and Elwin Buchanan Drive. Commissioner Garner moved to
approve the following Resolution:
WHEREAS, several wrecks have occurr
Elwin Buchanan Drive (Secondary Road No.
(Old U.S. Highway No. 1) (Secondary Road
twenty-four (24) months; and
WHEREAS, most of the aforementioned
start or end of shifts of plants within
Park; and
=_d at the intersection of
1479) and Deep River Road
No. 1466) during the past
wrecks have occurred at the
the Lee County Industrial
WHEREAS, the construction of a turning lane on Deep River Road
(Old U.S. Highway No. 1) (Secondary Road No. 1466) to accommodate
traffic coming from the North and going to the South turning left
into the Industrial Park on Elwin Buchanan Drive (Secondary Road No.
1479) would greatly reduce the risk of future accidents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for
Lee County as follows:
Section 1. That the North Carolina Department of
Transportation is requested to consider constructing a left hand turn
lane on Deep River Road (old U,.S. Highway No. 1) (Secondary Road No.
1466) at its intersection with Elwin Buchanan Road (Secondary Road
No. 1479) to facilitate the safe entry of traffic into the Lee County
Industrial Park.
004
4
