a~,Jv 15 609 01 15 <br />ECTION I: SHORT TITLE <br />This ordinance shall be known and may be cited as <br />"Sanford/Lee County Regional Airport Hazard Ordinance." <br />SECTION II: DEFINITIONS <br />As used in this ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires: <br />1. AIRPORT - Sanford/Lee County Regional Airport. <br />2. AIRPORT ELEVATION - The highest point of an airport's usable <br />landing area measured in feet from sea level. <br />3. APPROACH SURFACE, NON-PRECISION INSTRUMENT (NPI) - The inner <br />width of this approach surface coincides with the width of <br />the primary surface and is 1000 feet. The non-precision <br />approach surface expands outward uniformly to a width of 4,000 <br />feet at a horizontal distance 10,000 feet from the primary <br />surface. Its centerline being the continuation of the <br />centerline of the runway. The non-precision instrument <br />approach surface slope is 34 feet horizontally for each 1 foot <br />vertically. <br />4. APPROACH SURFACE, PRECISION INSTRUMENT - The inner width of <br />the approach surface coincides with the width of the primary <br />surface and is 1,000 feet. The precision instrument surface <br />expands outward uniformly to a width of 4,000 feet at a <br />horizontal distance of 10,000 feet from the primary surface. <br />The precision instrument approach surface slope is 50 <br />feet horizontally for each 1 foot vertically. The precision <br />instrument approach surface is further extended from a width <br />of 4,000 feet where it intersects the horizontal surface to a <br />width of 16,000 feet at a horizontal distance of 50,000 feet <br />from the primary surface. The slope of the extended approach <br />surface is 40 feet horizontally for each 1 foot vertically. <br />5. BOARD OF APPEALS - The Lee County Board of Adjustment shall <br />serve as the Board of Appeals. <br />6. CONICAL SURFACE - The conical surface is the area that <br />commences at the periphery of the horizontal surface of 4,000 <br />feet. The conical surface does not include the precision <br />instrument approach surfaces and the transitional surface. <br />The slope of the conical surface is 20 feet horizontally for 1 <br />foot vertically. <br />7. HAZARD TO AIR NAVIGATION - An obstruction determined to have <br />a substantial adverse effect on the safe and efficient <br />utilization of the navigable airspace. <br />8. HEIGHT - For the purpose of determining the height limits in <br />all zones set forth in this ordinance and shown on the zoning <br />-2- <br />
