IdII& <br />Blom fly { <br />f `f? r <br />WHEREAS, Lee County is a major partner in the public education <br />system, having provided money in 1993-94 to support <br />elementary-secondary schools and the community college system; and <br />WHEREAS, those serving as county officials are dedicated to <br />providing services to our citizens without undue burden on the <br />taxpayers. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS does <br />hereby proclaim April 16 through April 23, 1994, as "National County <br />Government Week in North Carolina" and urges all citizens to be more <br />involved in and aware of issues facing our counties. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a plan presented by County Manager William <br />Cowan to hire an Economic Development Director. Mr. Cowan went over <br />the proposed draft contract. After some discussion Commissioner <br />Stafford moved to accept the proposed draft contract presented by Mr. <br />Cowan. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Stafford reported that he had been asked by NACo <br />(National Association of County Commissioners) to represent North <br />Carolina at a meeting in Atlanta the week of April 11, 1994. No <br />action was taken on this matter. <br />The Chairperson ruled the Board would recess for dinner and <br />reconvene at 7:00 P.M. for the scheduled public hearing. Upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously <br />and the meeting recessed in keeping with the motion. <br />During the dinner break Commissioner Stafford moved to enter <br />7 <br />
