IdII& Blom fly { f `f? r WHEREAS, Lee County is a major partner in the public education system, having provided money in 1993-94 to support elementary-secondary schools and the community college system; and WHEREAS, those serving as county officials are dedicated to providing services to our citizens without undue burden on the taxpayers. NOW, THEREFORE, THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS does hereby proclaim April 16 through April 23, 1994, as "National County Government Week in North Carolina" and urges all citizens to be more involved in and aware of issues facing our counties. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker Nay: None The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. The Board considered a plan presented by County Manager William Cowan to hire an Economic Development Director. Mr. Cowan went over the proposed draft contract. After some discussion Commissioner Stafford moved to accept the proposed draft contract presented by Mr. Cowan. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker Nay: None The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. Commissioner Stafford reported that he had been asked by NACo (National Association of County Commissioners) to represent North Carolina at a meeting in Atlanta the week of April 11, 1994. No action was taken on this matter. The Chairperson ruled the Board would recess for dinner and reconvene at 7:00 P.M. for the scheduled public hearing. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker Nay: None The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and the meeting recessed in keeping with the motion.
