Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered employing eight (8) new jailers for the <br />Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Billy Bryant was present and answered <br />questions of the Board. Commissioner Stafford moved to approve <br />employing eight (8) new full-time jailers for the Sheriff's <br />Department. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered establishing the Cumnock Water Service <br />District. After some discussion Commissioner Stafford moved to <br />establish the Cumnock Water District. Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an Ordinance declaring the week of April <br />16-23, 1994, as County Government Week. Chairperson Matthews moved <br />to approve the following Ordinance: <br />O R D I N A N C E <br />LEE COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEER <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina's 100 county governments have in fact <br />served this state since 1663, working in partnership with the State <br />to deliver services and provide leadership for our communities; and <br />WHEREAS, Lee County is on the forefront of many issues critical <br />to both our state and nation, including health care, child and <br />care, environmental protection, social services, job training, public <br />education, emergency medical services, drug and alcohol abuse <br />treatment, law enforcement, water and sewer services, and library <br />services. <br />6 <br />
