The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />005 <br />The Board considered a Resolution declaring April as <br />Environmental Awareness Month. Recycling Coordinator John Payne <br />presented the Resolution to the Board for consideration. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the following Resolution: <br />WHEREAS, litter continues to be a major problem in our community <br />and there are many roads in Lee County that need to be cleared of <br />trash and debris; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners to encourage a countywide clean-up campaign in <br />conjunction with the City of Sanford, and North Carolina Department <br />of Transportation; and <br />WHEREAS, this clean-up effort cannot be accomplished without the <br />assistance of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, Lee County intends to provide trash bags and coordinate <br />pickup service to those persons who volunteer their time to help <br />alleviate the problem of litter in our community; and <br />WHEREAS, all persons, families, businesses, agencies and <br />organizations are encouraged to participate by adopting a road or <br />section of road in their community to clean up, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners that the month of April is hereby proclaimed "Litter <br />Awareness Month" and that this resolution be distributed to the <br />public through the media to encourage active participation by the <br />community. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered adoption of the North Carolina Division of <br />Parks & Recreation Schedule to determine rent for the ranger house at <br />San Lee Park. Recreation Director Bob Dowless was present and <br />answered questions of the Board. After some discussion commissioner <br />Garner moved to approve the monthly rental deduction schedule used by <br />the North Carolina Division of Parks & Recreation for a one-year <br />trial basis, with a contract in writing. The individual who will <br />occupy the house is to also give the Recreation Director a schedule <br />of his/her work schedule so someone can be on-call at all times. <br />5 <br />
