Chairperson Matthews moved to approve <br />the ordinance to Regulate Display of Firearms on Public Property. <br />Mr. Joel Thomas of Sanford spoke in opposition to the ordinance. He <br />stated County residents should have been notified of this Ordinance <br />before being discussed. After further discussion Chairperson <br />Matthews withdrew her motion to approve the Ordinance. Commissioner <br />Reives moved to table the matter until the next meeting in April. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered recommendations of the Planning Board. <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle told the Board the Planning Board <br />recommended the rezoning petition for Jack Maxwell to rezone 2.94 <br />acres of land on the western side of Jefferson Davis Highway from <br />Residential Restricted District to Highway Commercial District. <br />Chairperson Matthews moved to deny the recommendation of the Planning <br />Board. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: Stafford <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to <br />one vote. <br />Mr. Hoyle told the Board that the Planning Board recommended <br />approval of the petition by Mr. Herb Keith acting for Mr. J. Linwood <br />Keith to rezone from Residential Agricultural District to Light <br />Industrial Conditional Use District a tract containing approximately <br />3.46 acres of land on the western side of Hawkins Avenue at 3233 <br />Hawkins Avenue for the location of compartmentalized storage of <br />residential and commercial goods provided that the conditional use <br />permit prescribe the following conditions: a chain length fence of a <br />minimum of eight (8) feet height be placed by the petitioner <br />surrounding the perimeter of the proposed property, and that <br />shrubbery be planted outside of the fence facing San-Lee Drive and <br />High Street (as shown on the Lee County tax maps) which will grow to <br />a height sufficient to conceal the fence from view. Commissioner <br />Paschal moved that an additional safe guard be included on the <br />conditional use permit to require that the chain link fence be placed <br />forty (40) feet from the center line of the right-of-way of San-Lee <br />Drive in order for the purpose and intent of the provisions of the <br />zoning ordinance with respect to conditional use districts are <br />served, public welfare secured and substantial justice be done. Upon <br />a vote, the results were as follows: <br />3 <br />
