County Attorney <br />K. R. Hoyle asked that a renewal contract for Food Stamp issuance to <br />Office World be considered and a right-of-way Encroachment Agreement <br />with the Department of Transportation be considered for the Beulah <br />Brown Road Project. County Manager William Cowan asked that an <br />emergency budget amendment be considered for the repair of an <br />Emergency Services vehicle. Commissioner Stafford asked that he be <br />allowed time to make comments concerning Metro Government. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to approve the agenda as printed with the <br />above additions. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle explained <br />the Ordinance and answered questions of the Board. After much <br />discussion, Chairperson Matthews appointed Commissioner Garner to <br />work with County Attorney K. R. Hoyle on the Ordinance. No action <br />was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered a Resolution from The North Carolina Rural <br />Water Association to co-sponsor the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendment <br />- HR 3392 (The Slattery Bill). County Manager William Cowan answered <br />questions of the Board. Commissioner Reives moved to approve the <br />following Resolution: <br />R E S O L U T I O N <br />SLATTERY/BLILEY BILL - H.R. 3392 <br />SAFE DRINKING WATER ACT AMENDMENT <br />WHEREAS, all citizens of North Carolina should be aware of the <br />valuable and essential resource of safe drinking water; and <br />WHEREAS, the re-authorization of the Safe Drinking Water Act is <br />the regulatory vehicle for achieving safe drinking water; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Rural Water Association plans to <br />promote and educate the public concerning this re-authorization to <br />ensure a clean, safe and adequate drinking water supply through the <br />2 <br />
