009
ow fly f%v me
Mr. James Knight of Traveler Lane spoke in favor of the spelling
change.
No one spoke in opposition to the request.
The Board observed a short recess. After returning from the
recess, with all members present, except Commissioners Matthews and
Wicker, the meeting resumed.
The Board considered a waterline extension and preliminary
assessment roll for Southern Road. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle
stated that in keeping with the resolution adopted by the Board at
its May 16, 1994, meeting a preliminary assessment role had been
prepared and made available for public inspection in the Tax
Administrator's Office, a public hearing had been advertised for this
meeting, and a notice of the public hearing had been mailed to the
owners of the real property on the preliminary assessment roll.
Commissioner Reives moved to open the public hearing for the Southern
Road waterline extension. Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Paschal, Reives and Stafford
Nay: None
The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously
and the public hearing was open to the public.
Mr. James Fuqua of 14 Southwicke Road, Arden, North Carolina,
appeared before the Board and stated that he and his wife own a
parcel of land (PIN 9633-15-7236) which is the corner lot and lies
south of the intersection of Southern Road and Cool Springs Road, and
that he had signed the petition asking for the Southern Road water
line with the understanding that his property would not be benefited
by such water line since it already had access to a 12" line on Cool
Springs Road. Further, Mr. Fuqua stated that he had been in contact
with Mrs. Virginia Taylor, the agent for the A.V. Tomberlin heirs,
and that she had the same understanding with respect to the lot owned
by the Tomberlin heirs (PIN 9633-15-5670). Mr. Fuqua requested that
his lot and the Tomberlin lot be relieved of assessment as they did
not receive any benefit and joined in the petition as an
accommodation to the other ten property owners who he understood had
agreed to pay the assessment without his and the Tomberlin property
being included. No one else requested to speak on the subject.
Commissioner Stafford moved to close the public hearing for the
Southern Road waterline extension. Upon a vote, the results were as
follows:
Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Paschal, Reives, and Stafford
Nay: None
The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
9
