009 <br />ow fly f%v me <br />Mr. James Knight of Traveler Lane spoke in favor of the spelling <br />change. <br />No one spoke in opposition to the request. <br />The Board observed a short recess. After returning from the <br />recess, with all members present, except Commissioners Matthews and <br />Wicker, the meeting resumed. <br />The Board considered a waterline extension and preliminary <br />assessment roll for Southern Road. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle <br />stated that in keeping with the resolution adopted by the Board at <br />its May 16, 1994, meeting a preliminary assessment role had been <br />prepared and made available for public inspection in the Tax <br />Administrator's Office, a public hearing had been advertised for this <br />meeting, and a notice of the public hearing had been mailed to the <br />owners of the real property on the preliminary assessment roll. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to open the public hearing for the Southern <br />Road waterline extension. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Paschal, Reives and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously <br />and the public hearing was open to the public. <br />Mr. James Fuqua of 14 Southwicke Road, Arden, North Carolina, <br />appeared before the Board and stated that he and his wife own a <br />parcel of land (PIN 9633-15-7236) which is the corner lot and lies <br />south of the intersection of Southern Road and Cool Springs Road, and <br />that he had signed the petition asking for the Southern Road water <br />line with the understanding that his property would not be benefited <br />by such water line since it already had access to a 12" line on Cool <br />Springs Road. Further, Mr. Fuqua stated that he had been in contact <br />with Mrs. Virginia Taylor, the agent for the A.V. Tomberlin heirs, <br />and that she had the same understanding with respect to the lot owned <br />by the Tomberlin heirs (PIN 9633-15-5670). Mr. Fuqua requested that <br />his lot and the Tomberlin lot be relieved of assessment as they did <br />not receive any benefit and joined in the petition as an <br />accommodation to the other ten property owners who he understood had <br />agreed to pay the assessment without his and the Tomberlin property <br />being included. No one else requested to speak on the subject. <br />Commissioner Stafford moved to close the public hearing for the <br />Southern Road waterline extension. Upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Paschal, Reives, and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />9 <br />
