The identification of a chief elected official <br />empowered to act on behalf of the membership. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Lee County joins with <br />Chatham, Harnett and Sampson Counties in a consortium seeking <br />designation by the Governor as a Service Delivery Area through FY <br />1994, working through the Mid-Carolina Council of Governments as the <br />administrative entity for the consortium and naming the Lee County <br />Commissioner Chairperson as Chief Elected Official for the purpose of <br />pursuing such designation. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the designated Chief Elected <br />Official is empowered to: (1) act on behalf of Lee County in signing <br />the required documents necessary to establish the Mid-Carolina <br />Service Delivery Area; (2) represent Lee County on the consortium <br />board; (3) enter into contractual and other agreements to establish <br />an administrative entity, grant recipient, Private Industry Council, <br />Single Chief Elected Official for the consortium, and (4) develop and <br />sign the consortium agreement between Chatham, Harnett, Lee and <br />Sampson Counties. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Lee County will accept the proposed <br />service delivery area status if offered by the North Carolina <br />Division of Employment and Training. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proposed service delivery area <br />consortium shall be effective July 1, 1994: <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon designation of the <br />Mid-Carolina Service Delivery Area, each participating county will <br />have the opportunity to decide the nature and extent that it wishes <br />to be involved in the administration of the program. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Stafford <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Resolution designating Labor Day as "Try <br />American Day".
