Commissioner Reives moved to approve the <br />minutes as the official record of said meeting. Commissioner <br />to the executive <br />agenda as printed <br />were as follows: <br />Reives, Stafford <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager William Cowan discussed, and answered questions, <br />of the Board concerning an updated status report on the Americans <br />With Disabilities Act (ADA) schedule for the County. No action was <br />taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered a request of a donation to the Railroad <br />House Historical Association. Commissioner Garner moved to donate <br />$2,500 to the Railroad House Historical Association for the <br />publication of a history book about Lee County. During the <br />discussion commissioner Garner referred to this donation as similar <br />to funds recently given to the San Lee Humane Society and a request <br />on the current agenda for a recording device for the Sheriff's <br />Department. Commissioner Reives stated, "I don't know that this <br />project is a definite responsibility, it may be something that this <br />Board wishes to respond to but it is not necessarily a requirement <br />nor is it an obligation to this County to incur just because a group <br />or some organization decides they want to dedicate a book to Lee <br />County. I don't agree with that". Mr. Reives further stated the two <br />examples Commissioner Garner referred to were different and separate <br />items of concern. He stated, "you have an obligation to do something <br />about the animal population and you definitely have an obligation to <br />the protection of the citizens under the Sheriff's Department. These <br />are separate and totally different items than us funding a project to <br />a non-profit organization". Upon a vote, the results were as <br />002 <br />2 <br />
