The Board considered a memorandum of Understanding between The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, North Carolina State University, and North Carolina A&T State University and an amendment to the Lee County Memorandum of Understanding. Cooperative Extension Director John Hall was present and answered questions of the Board. Commissioner Reives moved to approve the Memorandum of Understanding and the amendment to the Lee County Memorandum of Understanding. Elections Supervisor Kim Butts told the Board the 1994 session of the 1993 General Assembly appropriated $1,000,000 for a one-time grant-in-aid program to counties for the implementation of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. Grants will range from $5,000 - $25,000 per county. The grant application must be submitted to the State by October 10, 1994. After some discussion Commissioner Paschal moved to approve the grant application for implementation of National Voter Registration Act of 1993.
