003 <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />aov 15 PnE 842 <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a memorandum of Understanding between The <br />North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, North Carolina State <br />University, and North Carolina A&T State University and an amendment <br />to the Lee County Memorandum of Understanding. Cooperative Extension <br />Director John Hall was present and answered questions of the Board. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the Memorandum of Understanding <br />and the amendment to the Lee County Memorandum of Understanding. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a grant application for the Board of <br />Elections. Elections Supervisor Kim Butts told the Board the 1994 <br />session of the 1993 General Assembly appropriated $1,000,000 for a <br />one-time grant-in-aid program to counties for the implementation of <br />the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. Grants will range from <br />$5,000 - $25,000 per county. The grant application must be submitted <br />to the State by October 10, 1994. After some discussion Commissioner <br />Paschal moved to approve the grant application for implementation of <br />National Voter Registration Act of 1993. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: Stafford <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to <br />one vote. <br />The Board considered a bid award for the Household Hazardous <br />Waste Collection contract. Public Works Director Kenny Cole told the <br />Board a Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled to take place <br />Saturday, November 5, 1994, at the Lee County Civic Center. The <br />following proposals were received: <br />Laidlaw Environmental Services $38,025.00 <br />Reidsville, NC <br />AETC of New Jersey $41,400.00 <br />Heritage Environmental Services $38,175.00 <br />Charlotte, NC <br />3 <br />
