nox 15 Ra 861 <br />and consider the purchase of a new van for the Sheriff's Department. <br />Commissioner Reives asked that Elections Supervisor Kim Butts be <br />allowed to give an overview of the upcoming election for Tuesday, <br />November 8, 1994; and Chairperson Matthews asked that an appointment <br />be made to the Lee County Computer Technology Committee. <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the agenda as printed, with the <br />above additions. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a recommendation from the Planning Board. <br />Planning Director Trevis Averett told the Board the Planning Board <br />recommended approval for a petition by Mr. Pat Field to rezone from <br />Residential Restricted District to Residential Agricultural District <br />approximately 199.68 acres of land west of Carbonton Road. <br />Commissioner Paschal moved to approve the recommendation of the <br />Planning Board. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Board of Elections Supervisor Kim Butts appeared before the <br />Board and gave an update on the upcoming election for Tuesday, <br />November 8, 1994, and answered questions of the Board. She told the <br />Board polls will be open from 6:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. and voters in <br />all districts will be given two ballots, one for countywide and one <br />for the appropriate person's state Senate district and county <br />commission district. Ballots are printed on the front and back of <br />each sheet. Maps of each district will be available if anyone should <br />have questions about their district. Individuals working the polls <br />should be able to help anyone that comes in and has questions. After <br />some discussion it was recommended that all precinct registrars and <br />judges have bright name tags clearly defining their role in the <br />election process. <br />The Board considered a resolution declaring priority of <br />transportation projects for Sanford and Lee County. After some <br />discussion Commissioner Garner moved to approve a resolution <br />declaring priority of transportation projects for Sanford and Lee <br />County with the stipulation that an item be included in reference to <br />the continued interest of US #1 from Sanford to Raleigh to be <br />4-laned, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof.
