BOOK 15 PACE 872 <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered an Order authorizing the Tax Assessor to <br />use and follow the Schedule of Values, Standards and Rules of real <br />property for 1995. Commissioner Garner moved to approve the order, a <br />copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this reference made <br />a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered establishing a separate Inspections <br />Department and the promotion of Travis Phillips to department head. <br />County Manager William Cowan recommended to the Board that the <br />Inspections and Planning Departments be separated and Travis Phillips <br />be promoted to the department head position of the Inspections <br />Department effective November 1, 1994. Commissioner Matthews moved <br />to establish a separate Inspections Department and promote Travis <br />Phillips to the department head position at a grade 73 step 5 with an <br />annual salary of $37,039.00, and to add the classification of <br />Director of Inspections to the Lee County Classification and Pay <br />Plan. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairperson Matthews appointed Mr. Darrell Perry to the Lee <br />County Computer Technology Committee. <br />The Board considered a request from the Northview Rural <br />Volunteer Fire Department in reference to hiring a paid employee for <br />their department. A public hearing was held concerning this matter <br />several months ago and the Board denied the request for the <br />department to hire a full time paid employee. After some discussion <br />commissioner Reives moved for the Board not to support the request of <br />the Northview Rural Volunteer Fire Department to hire a full time <br />paid employee for their department. He further stated the Board <br />would only be in favor of this request if the citizens in the <br />Northview fire district voted to support the increase in their fire <br />taxes. If the fire department decides to hire an employee, without <br />the Board of Commissioners consent, the Board will not OK the tax <br />413 <br />13 <br />
