Upon a vote, the results were <br />as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Board considered a bid contract for asbestos removal for the <br />old jail and courthouse facilities. Public Works Director Kenny Cole <br />told the Board he received bids from the following: <br />Harris & Associates $46,600.00 <br />Durham, NC 27707 <br />Environmental Concerns $59,500.00 <br />Fayetteville, NC 28301 <br />Enpuricon, Inc. $49,950.00 <br />Apex, NC 27502 <br />Containnant Control, Inc. $54,257.00 <br />Fayetteville, NC 28301 <br />After some discussion Commissioner Dossenbach moved to accept the low <br />bid from Harris & Associates, Durham, North Carolina, for $46,600.00. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairperson ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Public Works Director Kenny Cole gave the Board a report on the <br />Lee County water system. He told the Board that Ms. Janice Ponds <br />from Farmers Home Administration had met with the Building, Grounds & <br />Utilities Committee at their last meeting and informed them the <br />pre-application package has been completed and submitted. The next <br />phase will be the application phase and the State office should <br />notify Farmers Home by mid-November and give them authorization to <br />begin processing Lee County's application. This will be followed by <br />an application conference with Lee County, representatives from <br />Hobbs, Upchurch & Associates, and Farmers Home to discuss any <br />comments or changes in the project from the pre-application package. <br />Ms. Ponds discussed with the Building, Grounds & Utilities Committee <br />a few restrictions that could apply to the project. She told the <br />Committee that no taps will be permitted in the designated wet land <br />areas, and no taps will be allowed in threatened endangered species <br />010 <br />10 <br />
