County Manager William Cowan told the Board this <br />abatement action was beyond the original scope of work and would <br />require action of the Board. After some discussion commissioner <br />Dossenbach moved to approve the change order for additional asbestos <br />removal from the old courthouse and jail facilities for a cost of <br />$5,800.00. Commissioner Moretz seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a cost estimate from the Public Works <br />Department to do demolition to the second floor courtroom in the old <br />courthouse. County Manager William Cowan told the Board the <br />demolition would include removal of paneling, ceiling tiles/tract, <br />seats, wall paper, and judges' desk. After much discussion <br />Commissioner Moretz moved to accept the cost of Public Works Director <br />Kenny Cole for using 3 employees and 3 inmates (total cost <br />$10,593.00) and proceed with the demolition work of the second floor <br />courtroom in the old courthouse. Commissioner Dossenbach seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Moretz <br />Nay: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />vote. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been defeated by a six to one <br />County Manager William Cowan presented the FY 1995/1996 - <br />1999/2000 Capital Improvements Plan to the Board. He asked the Board <br />members to check their calendars for available dates to hold working <br />sessions on this Plan. No action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach made the following motion for Lee County <br />to implement, among its employees, an incentive program of cash award <br />for plans they can submit to their department heads, to be forwarded <br />to the County Manager, to where Lee County can save money.
