He was now <br />asking for the Board to approve the formal application and <br />certification form for this grant. The grant would allow Lee County <br />to develop one little league baseball field with parking lot, rest <br />rooms and concession stand. A local match of $50,000 has been <br />promised by the Optimist Club for this project. The County would pay <br />for maintenance of the park which would be approximately $5,000 per <br />year. After much discussion Commissioner Stafford moved to approve <br />the formal application and certification for the Optimist Park Grant. <br />Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner and Stafford <br />Nay: Cox, Dossenbach, Moretz, Reives and Wicker <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been defeated by a five to two <br />vote. <br />The Board considered budget amendment # 01/23/95/13. Finance <br />Director Lisa Minter was present and answered questions of the Board. <br />Commissioner Stafford moved to approve budget amendment # <br />01/23/95/13, a copy of which is attached to these minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof. Commissioner Reives seconded the, <br />motion and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: Cox and Moretz <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two <br />vote. <br />The Board considered the donation of a new computer system to <br />the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service. Finance Director <br />Lisa Minter told the Board the Sanford Lions Club had donated the <br />equipment to the Cooperative Extension Service, valued at $1,720.09, <br />for their support of the Lee County Fair. Commissioner Moretz moved <br />to accept the donation of computer equipment to the North Carolina <br />Cooperative Extension Service, valued at $1,720.09. Commissioner <br />Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from Commissioner Stafford to <br />appoint a three-person team of citizens to comprise the Board of <br />Equalization and Review.
