Mr. Edwards is recommending the two <br />counties seek a $174,597 state grant - their share of $12 million set <br />aside by the North Carolina General Assembly during its crime session <br />to fund local plans. He also asked they seek a $200,000 state grant <br />from a special discretionary fund to build a resource center in <br />Harnett County, buy equipment and furnishings for offices in both <br />counties and purchase a van. Lee County would create a Department of <br />Community Corrections to administer the program in both counties. <br />After much discussion commissioner Cox moved to approve the proposed <br />comprehensive community-based corrections plan. Commissioner Reives <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Section 18 application for administration <br />and capital funds for FY 1995/96 for the Lee County Transit System. <br />Mrs. Debbie Davidson, Chairperson of the Lee County Transportation <br />Advisory Board explained the application to the Board and answered <br />questions. Commissioner Reives moved to approve the Section 18 <br />application for administration and capital funds for FY 1995/96 as <br />presented. Mrs. Debbie Davidson, <br />Chairperson of the Lee County Transportation Advisory Board explained <br />the draft policy to the Board and answered questions. After some <br />discussion Commissioner Reives moved the policy be sent to the County <br />Attorney for recommendations and approval and returned to the Board <br />at a later time for consideration.
