Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and
upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Garner, Moretz and Reives
Nay: Cox, Dossenbach and Wicker
The Chairman ruled the motion was tied with a three to three
vote.
Commissioner Dossenbach moved that Jack Campbell be selected as
alternate number one. Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and
upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Reives and Wicker
Nay: Moretz
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to one
vote with Jack Campbell as alternate number one and Johnny Mack Burns
as alternate number two.
Commissioner Reives made the following statement, "I still stand
very strongly opposed to the idea that we make these appointments. I
think that is a burden that this Board incurred when it's members
were elected and personally I feel that when public members are put
in predicaments, such as the one we are about to do or have done thus
far, the general public has no real recourse. It's almost as if what
the public member says will be it and the general public or the tax
payer has no way of voting that person in or out of office. We have
by virtue of the delegation, and I have no problem delegating
anything, but there are some things that I think that happen to be
the responsibility of the Commissioners and public elected officials.
I still stand very strongly opposed to what this Board has done.
I've consistently voted no and I continue to do so today."
04
4
