County Attorney K.R. After some discussion Commissioner Reives
moved to accept the bid from Office World at .46 per transaction.
Commissioner Stafford seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the
results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and
Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
The Board considered a letter of intent for The Lee County Arts
Center Committee. Representatives from this Committee met with the
Board at their May 8, 1995, Work Session and discussed developing the
Lee County Arts Building, without any funding from the County.
Commissioner Stafford moved that the Chairman be authorized and
directed to issue a letter of intent to the Lee County Arts Center
Committee for and on behalf of the Board to the effect that the Board
would enter into negotiations for the private sale of the building
formerly known as the Lee County Arts and Community Center and a
portion of the adjourning real property pursuant to the authority
contained in NCGS 160A-266(b). Commissioner Cox seconded the motion.
In discussion it was noted that another vote will be taken by the
Board after negotiations have been worked out. Commissioner Reives
expressed concerns of 1) whether the Board can do this without them
having a non-profit status, and 2) division of property because he
doesn't feel they need all the property. County Attorney K.R. Hoyle
informed the Board a Preservation Agreement will also have to be
drafted which shows it will be persevered and accessible to the
public. Upon a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and
Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
06
6
