016 <br />• MINUTES OF THE BUDGET WORK SESSION <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />JUNE 26, 1995 <br />The budget work session of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 5:00 P.M. in the <br />Commissioners' Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, <br />Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners' present were Jimmie M. Cox; John <br />R. Dossenbach, Jr.; F. Hubert Garner; J. Douglas Moretz; Robert T. Reives, <br />/ William C. Stafford, Jr.; and Gordon A. Wicker. <br />V Chairman Garner presided and the following business was transacted: <br />County Manager William Cowan went over additions that have been <br />added to the proposed FY 1995-96 budget since the last work session. <br />Commissioner Stafford expressed concerns for additional money for <br />the Lee County Board of Education. Commissioner Cox expressed concerns of <br />• credibility as to how they spend money and information when the Board ask <br />for it. After much discussion Commissioner Reives moved to cut $150,000 <br />from non-instructional purposes and furniture and general use from the <br />school's budget, and increase their current expenses by $87,358. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from Board of Elections Chairman <br />William Lewis asking the Board to replace $3,400 they had removed from that <br />budget during a recent work session. Some discussion took place but no <br />action was taken on the matter. <br />The Board considered a budget request from the Temple Theater. <br />Commissioner Cox moved not to replace funds in the budget for the Temple <br />Theater. Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion. After some discussion <br />Commissioner Stafford made a substitute motion to appropriate $16,000 to <br />the Temple Theater and reduce the amount by $2,000 dollars each year <br />hereafter. Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote of the <br />substitute motion, the results were as follows: <br />• <br />1 <br />
