H <br />Boot N ors=_ 123 <br />M <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a Resolution, which was read by County <br />Attorney K.R. Hoyle, requesting the Board of Trustees of Central <br />Carolina Community college to name the civic center in honor of <br />Dennis A. Wicker. Commissioner Reives moved to approve the following <br />Resolution: <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING <br />THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF <br />CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY COLLEGE <br />TO NAME THE CIVIC CENTER IN HONOR OF <br />THE HONORABLE DENNIS A. WICKER <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Civic Center was constructed with local <br />and state funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the state funds were secured in large measure through <br />the efforts of the Honorable Dennis A. Wicker, who was then a member <br />of the House of Representatives of the General Assembly; and <br />WHEREAS, the obligations which secured the local funds have been <br />paid and fully satisfied and the property conveyed to the Board of <br />Trustees of Central Carolina Community College; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for <br />Lee County that it recommends to the Board of Trustees of Central <br />Carolina Community College that the structure presently known as the <br />Lee County Civic Center be renamed in honor of Dennis A Wicker, a <br />distinguished citizen of Lee County. <br />Commissioner Stafford seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Moretz, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: Dossenbach <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one <br />vote. <br />The Board considered a request from Central Carolina Community <br />College to acquire the Federal Building located at 226 Carthage <br />Street.
