aoud 16 ~ 159 <br />Garner expressed concerns he had about getting in and out of the <br />current building and the timeliness of serving individuals. He would <br />like to see another building located on a more accessible road. <br />County Manager William Cowan and County Attorney K. R. Hoyle were <br />instructed to contact the Department of Motor Vehicles and see what, <br />if any, current plans they might have for the Lee County Office. <br />Commissioner Reives was asked to do some checking in Raleigh <br />concerning this matter. <br />Chairman Garner turned the meeting over to Vice-Chairman Moretz <br />and left the meeting at this time. <br />The Board discussed installing a fuel dispensing system for the <br />County of Lee and Lee County Schools. County Manager William Cowan <br />and Public Works Director Kenny Cole answered questions of the Board. <br />The Lee County Schools have contacted the County about merging with <br />them on a fuel dispensing system. Public Works Director Kenny Cole <br />told the Board the current proposed plan is to install three (3) <br />10,000 gallon above ground tanks, constructed in containment walls. <br />Mr. Cole is currently working on sketches for the proposed site. <br />After some discussion County Manager William Cowan was instructed to <br />check with the City of Sanford to see if they would be interested in <br />joining a merge at this time. Mr. Jerry Batchlor from the School <br />Maintenance Garage was present and answered questions. <br />The Board discussed a resolution for absentee ballots for the <br />water bond referendum. County Attorney K.R. Hoyle told the Board a <br />resolution needed to be adopted at least sixty (60) days in advance <br />if the Board wished to use absentee ballots at the November 7, 1995 <br />election. <br />The Board considered the minutes of the June 12, 1995, Work <br />Session. Commissioner Cox moved to approve the minutes as the <br />official record of said meeting. Commissioner Reives seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice-Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to go into closed session to consult with <br />the County Attorney to consider and give instructions concerning the <br />handling of a claim pertaining to the Lee County Jail.
