600K 16 rr,~f 169 7 <br />Wicker of 3101 Hawkins Avenue, spoke neither for or against the <br />request but did request that a building not be constructed within a <br />certain distance of his mother's home during her lifetime. <br />Mr. Averett told the Boards' that James Stone for A & W <br />Investment, Inc. requested to rezone from Residential Agricultural <br />District to Residential Mixed District 126.32 acres of land located <br />east of Black Road at the intersection with Blacks Chapel Road and <br />south of Sheriff Watson Road. <br />Mr. James Stone, representing A & W Investment, Inc. told the <br />Boards' the land would be used for a subdivision with 1 1/2 to six <br />acre lots. He further stated the development would be divided into <br />thirty-four (34) lots. Mr. Albert Adcock of Adcock & Associates also <br />spoke in favor of the request. <br />Mr. Jim Shearin of 5008 Carbonton Road spoke against mobile <br />homes over twelve (12) years old being allowed on these lots. <br />Mr. Averett told the Boards' that Mr. John Pittman requested to <br />rezone from Residential Agricultural District to Residential <br />Restricted District 76.70 acres of land as an extension of Cheshire <br />Drive. Mr. Gerald Womble of 4900 Ferrell Road spoke in favor of the <br />request as he is assisting with the development of this property. If <br />approved, the property will be developed in four (4) stages with each <br />lot being 30,000 square feet or larger. Mr. John Pittman of 702 <br />Stuart Drive and retired Senator William Staton of 636 Palmer Drive <br />spoke in favor of the request. <br />Mrs. Michelle Womack of 5115 Britany Woods and Mr. Clarence <br />Whitt of 2426 Bruce Coggins Road spoke in opposition to the request. <br />Mr. Doug Bullard of 3305 Alpine Avenue stated he felt the <br />community needed information concerning the rezoning request before a <br />public hearing was scheduled. <br />Mr. John Yarborough of 2307 Bruce Coggins Road wanted to know <br />how many entrances would be to the development. <br />Mr. Averett told the Boards' an amendment to the Watershed Map <br />of Lee County needed to be considered. Copies of the amended <br />ordinance and map must be submitted to the Division of Environmental <br />Management by August 25, 1995. Commissioner Reives moved to table <br />the hearing. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion. County <br />Manager William Cowan instructed the Board a public hearing could not <br />be tabled since the hearing had been advertised and notices mailed <br />out. Commissioner Reives withdrew his motion. After further <br />discussion and comments from the public, Commissioner Reives once <br />again moved to table the matter until more information could be <br />obtained on the matter.
