The Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Clerk to the Board are <br />hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the <br />County and and all documents and to perform any and all acts they may <br />deem necessary or appropriate in order to carry out the intent of this <br />resolution and the matters herein authorized. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Moretz, Reives and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request to place a WPA painting which <br />formerly hung in the old courthouse to the new courthouse. Mrs. Geneva <br />Sloan, representing The Sanford Woman's Club asked the Board to place <br />the painting, that originally hung in the first Post Office on Carthage <br />Street and was later moved to the old courthouse, in the second floor <br />lobby of the new courthouse. The painting is currently being stored at <br />the Public Works facility. County Manager William Cowan told the Board <br />it would cost $1,647.00 to matt and frame the painting. After some <br />discussion commissioner Moretz moved to table the matter until someone <br />could talk with the Lee County Bar Association and District Judge to <br />get their feelings on the matter. Commissioner Reives seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Moretz, Reives and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. The <br />Chairman appointed Commission Moretz to work with the Lee County Bar <br />Association, District Judge and The Sanford Woman's Club on this <br />matter. <br />The Board considered a request to purchase new vehicles for the <br />Sheriff's Department. Captain Kevin Kirkman of the Sheriff's <br />Department was present and asked the Board to approve the purchase of <br />six (6) new vehicles through the State Contract, at a total of <br />$109,154.00. The new vehicles will replace older higher mileage <br />vehicles in the current fleet. Commissioner Reives moved to approve <br />the purchase of six (6) new vehicles through the State Contract at a <br />total cost of $109,154.00.
