A copy of the <br />executed resolution is attached. <br />Provide a brief narrative of the application, with specific comments directed toward the <br />status and the needs of economic development within the local government jurisdiction. <br />Additionally, comment should be made concerning who is conducting negotiations with <br />the current or potential employer. <br />Between December 2007 and June 2010 Lee County's employed labor force declined by 2,038 persons <br />or 8.3 ° %. During this same period Lee County employers eliminated 2,535 jobs of which 1,537 losses <br />occurred in the manufacturing sector. During this period the private sector lost 2,707 jobs while the <br />government sector added 172 jobs. <br />Lee County's primary economic development efforts are directed toward upgrading public <br />infrastructure and skills training facilities to support existing and new business located in or locating ip- <br />the Lee County Industrial Park, a joint Lee County, City of Sanford and Lee County Economic <br />Development Corporation partnership. The Lee County ] ndustrial Park, home to world - renowned <br />companies like Pfizer, Zorn and Caterpillar isjust one mile from US I and US 15 -501 north of Sanford. <br />With the recent opening of a new section, the Park has prime sites up to 242 acres currently available <br />and training space provided by Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) 20,000 - square -foot North <br />Carolina School of Telecommunications. The Park expansion included Lee County financing and <br />rough -grade road construction of extending Clyde Rhyne Road to Colon Road near its intersection with <br />US -1. The City of Sanford provides water and sewer service to the entire park. <br />
