60UK N r•~~ 215 002 <br />committee, Commissioner Matthews moved to not organize a committee to <br />study school funding as it relates to purpose, function and project. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews and Reives <br />Nay: Cox and Moretz <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a four to two <br />vote. <br />The Board considered approval of the agenda. County Manager <br />William Cowan asked the Board to consider a partial of surplus school <br />property located at Carolina Trace. Commissioner Dossenbach moved to <br />approve the agenda as printed, with the above addition. Commissioner <br />Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a resolution to release Lee County's share <br />of the economic development monies from the State Budget Office to the <br />Triangle J Council of Governments. County Manager William Cowan told <br />the Board that funds are again available to assist the economic <br />development programs of this and the other seventeen regions. He asked <br />the Board to approve a resolution to release Lee County's share, which <br />is $3,083.28. Money not released reverts to the State's general fund. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, in North Carolina the Lead Regional organizations, as <br />voluntary organizations serving municipal and county governments, have <br />established productive working relationships with the cities and <br />counties across the state; and <br />WHEREAS, many counties and cities continue to need assistance in <br />pursuing economic and community development opportunities, but federal <br />assistance in the form of intergovernmental revenues has been severely <br />curtailed in recent years; and <br />WHEREAS, the 1995 General Assembly recognized this need through <br />the appropriation of $864,270 to help the Lead Regional Organizations <br />assist local governments with grant applications, economic development, <br />community development, and to support local industrial development <br />activities and other activities as deemed appropriate by their local <br />governments; and <br />WHEREAS, these funds are not intended to be used for payment of <br />members' dues or assessments to Lead Regional organization or to <br />2 <br />
