Sidewalk installation along a portion of Main Street North <br />in the Town of Broadway <br />We also endorse the relocation of the Division of Motor Vehicles <br />office in Sanford. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives requested the County Manager and County <br />Attorney get information from The Department of Transportation <br />concerning the number of homes and businesses that will be displaced, <br />what areas they are located in and if any parks, churches or other <br />structures will be affected by the proposed project. He further <br />stated "my concern is that it be clear in the minds of the Lee County <br />tax payers that while the Board of Commissioners may have limited <br />input we don't make the final decision on what areas are actually <br />targeted for improvements or the actual creation of a new bypass". <br />He further stated, "I would feel more comfortable, even though public <br />hearings have been held, that in the near future any decisions <br />involving the 421 bypass, formally adopted by the Board of the <br />Department of Transportation, a representative come in and explain <br />that for the benefit of the public". <br />The Board considered a concealed handguns ordinance for Lee <br />County. County Attorney K. R. Hoyle gave the Board a list of places <br />weapons are currently not allowed in, discussed the proposed <br />ordinance and answered questions of the Board. After much discussion <br />Commissioner Dossenbach moved the passage of the following ordinance: <br />AN ORDINANCE PERMITTING THE POSTING OF SIGNS <br />TO PROHIBIT THE CARRYING OF CONCEALED HANDGUNS <br />ON CERTAIN COUNTY PROPERTY <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 398 of the 1995 Session Laws changes prior law <br />by establishing a system that will allow private citizens to obtain <br />permits to carry concealed handguns; and <br />WHEREAS, this change in the law will significantly increase the <br />005 <br />5 <br />
