4, <br />X03 <br />scos f6 ~r,~,F 232 <br />vote. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a four to two <br />The Board considered a proclamation for Farm-City Week. <br />Cooperative Extension Director John Hall and Farm-City Week Chairman <br />Neil Kightlinger were present and asked the Board to approve a joint <br />proclamation with the City of Sanford for this annual event. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the following: <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, the growth and development of the County and the <br />well-being of all its.citizens are dependent upon cooperation and <br />exchange between the two essential environments of our society - <br />farms and city people; and <br />WHEREAS, the complexities of their individual problems and the <br />divergence of their activities may lead to a widening gap of <br />misunderstanding; and <br />WHEREAS, any gap of misunderstanding must be eliminated, and <br />each group must understand the other if our American way of life is <br />to endure; and <br />WHEREAS, Farm-City Week provides an unparalleled experience for <br />farm and city people to become better acquainted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we do hereby proclaim the period of November 26 <br />through December 2, 1995, to be FARM-CITY WEER; and we do further <br />call upon all citizens of this County and City to participate to the <br />limit of their capabilities in the joint visits, seminars, pageants, <br />fairs, and civic and social events associated with a successful <br />Farm-City Week in the City of Sanford and Lee County. <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the acceptance of a $1,700 gift to the <br />Cooperative Extension Office. Cooperative Extension Director John <br />Hall told the Board the Sanford Lions Club had donated $1,700 to the <br />Cooperative Extension office for the purchase of a new printer. He <br />was asking the Boards approval to accept this donation. Commissioner <br />Reives moved to accept the donation of $1,700 from the Sanford Lions <br />Club to the Cooperative Extension Office. Commissioner Dossenbach <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />3 <br />
