Cooperative Extension Director John Hall and Farm-City Week Chairman Neil Kightlinger were present and asked the Board to approve a joint proclamation with the City of Sanford for this annual event. Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the following: P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, the growth and development of the County and the well-being of all its.citizens are dependent upon cooperation and exchange between the two essential environments of our society - farms and city people; and WHEREAS, the complexities of their individual problems and the divergence of their activities may lead to a widening gap of misunderstanding; and WHEREAS, any gap of misunderstanding must be eliminated, and each group must understand the other if our American way of life is to endure; and WHEREAS, Farm-City Week provides an unparalleled experience for farm and city people to become better acquainted. NOW, THEREFORE, we do hereby proclaim the period of November 26 through December 2, 1995, to be FARM-CITY WEER; and we do further call upon all citizens of this County and City to participate to the limit of their capabilities in the joint visits, seminars, pageants, fairs, and civic and social events associated with a successful Farm-City Week in the City of Sanford and Lee County. The Board considered the acceptance of a $1,700 gift to the Cooperative Extension Office. Cooperative Extension Director John Hall told the Board the Sanford Lions Club had donated $1,700 to the Cooperative Extension office for the purchase of a new printer. He was asking the Boards approval to accept this donation. Commissioner Reives moved to accept the donation of $1,700 from the Sanford Lions Club to the Cooperative Extension Office.
