B00K 16 _ 288 009 <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board of Commissioners at this time held a joint meeting <br />with members of the Lee County Board of Education. Discussion <br />centered around the long range facilities plan for 1995-2005 and the <br />Parents As Teachers (P.A.T.) Program. No action was taken on these <br />items. <br />The Board took a short recess at this time. Upon returning from <br />recess, with all members present, the meeting resumed. <br />The hour of adjournment (9:30 a.m.) was approaching and <br />Commissioner Moretz moved to extend the work session by an additional <br />ten (10) minutes. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed a problem with house numbering in Lee <br />County. Planning Director Trevis Averett told the Board that some <br />house numbers in some areas of the County are out of sequence and <br />some have two houses with the same house number. After some <br />discussion commissioner Reives moved for the County Manager to spend <br />$1,500 to evaluate the Land Records data base equipment; work out a <br />plan to eliminate this problem; and come back to the Board with a <br />recommendation at a later time. Commissioner Matthews seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed recommendations from Public Works Director <br />Kenny Cole concerning illegal dumping in the County. His <br />recommendations to the Board were the following: <br />- focus on an educational campaign <br />- hire a Code Enforcement Officer <br />- work with the Sheriff's Department to closely monitor <br />some of the active dumping areas in the County <br />No action was taken on the matter. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to extend the work session by an <br />additional ten (10) minutes.
