ti <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />k/ <br />MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1996 <br />The special meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North <br />Carolina, convened at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Room, Lee County Government Center, 106 <br />Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Commissioners present were Jimmie M. Cox; John R. <br />Dossenbach, Jr.; F. Hubert Garner; Van R. Groce; Bertha L. Matthews; J. Douglas Moretz and Robert T. <br />Reives. <br />Chairman Garner presided and the following business was transacted. <br />Commissioner Doug Moretz asked for a few moments of silent prayer. <br />The Board considered approval of the minutes of the January 16, 1996 meeting. Commissioner <br />Moretz moved to approve the minutes as the official record of said meeting. Commissioner Matthews <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Gamer, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Garner asked the Board to consider a resolution of gratitude and appreciation to <br />persons, firms and corporations who worked to alleviate the hardship and suffering caused by the recent <br />ice storms. Commissioner Dossenbach moved to approve this addition to the agenda. Commissioner <br />Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cos, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager William Cowan asked the Board to consider a closed session to give <br />instructions to the County Attorney in the handling of a claim. Commissioner Matthews moved to add a <br />closed session to the agenda. Commissioner Reives seconded the motion and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Dossenbach, Garner, Groce, Matthews, Moretz, and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />
